Why to leave Nevada
September 28th, 2006Well I sure can not come up with a reason except for when it is the Labor Day weekend, why this week you ask? Well it is quite simple, it is the weekend that large amounts of the Californians come to Nevada and or leave to somewhere else themselves. Over the Labor Day weekend this year we loaded up the family and headed out for some good old fashioned American fun. We of course started up the over Donner summit and almost as soon as we hit the freeway it was obvious that there were many people headed the other way. Being on the east side of the valley most of the traffic was headed yet further east to Burning Man. This event alone attacks some 30,000 people mostly from California. Shortly down the road there was yet a further increase in traffic, this time all the people were headed to the Sparks Rig Cook Off. This event too attracts some 30,000 people, as we continued the traffic was obviously much heaver headed east while we were headed south. Once we got the Sacramento a majority of the traffic was headed the other way and it was pretty much like this all the way to San Jose where we finally arrived at our destination.
After checking in we made to town we checked into the hotel then went to the Winchester Mystery House.
We took the tour and had a great time although the overly active child had a melt down about a 1/3 of the way through which always makes for excitement. After the tour we headed back to the hotel where we settled in for a good nights rest.
The next day we headed to Paramount’s Great America, we were the first to arrive and we managed to actually be the first to go thought the gates. Before getting in we grabbed a map and planned the attack of what to ride first to avoid the lines. Best of all as soon as we walked through the gate Sponge Bob was there to shake his hand.

We hit all the big rides and the proceeded to take the overly active child to all the rides he wanted to go on. Upon competing enough a level to slow him down we realized that the crowd never came, there were still no lines at the big ride which is why it is the perfect reason to leave Nevada on the Labor Day weekend.
The next day I pulled up maps.google.com on my computer and retrieved driving direction to the San Francisco Zoo, I then sent to the my Sprint PPC-6700 phone and drove straight to the zoo. Having never been there it was a real pleasure to not even miss one turn along the way. This time the crowd were a little larger but still very quiet compared to what I would expect a normal weekend to be like there.
Keltin and Eric had a great time they both seemed to really enjoyed the penguins, I think the youngest enjoyed them the most because they were so energetic and loud like him. We spend a large amount of time with the penguins but we also saw many of the other animals which was pretty cool.
I had never been to the San Francisco Zoo before and it was much larger than I had expected and a great place to take the family. Upon competing visiting almost every animal insect bird Keltin started to slow down tow days of full activity was finally catching up with him. However once again the lines and crowds never came, which is yet another reason why it is the perfect reason to leave Nevada on the Labor Day weekend.
Man yet another post, I don’t know why I am doing this again, this post took me a couple of hours over two days. This is going to be my last post. I just don’t have the time for it.
Sorry.
